About Us:

The wholesale distribution industry is ready for a revolution, and Proton is leading the charge. The world relies on distributors to sell nearly every physical product, but despite its massive contribution to the global economy, this industry has been left behind in terms of technology. Proton is changing that with AI-powered CRM software. Distributors using Proton see 10x ROI, faster new hire ramp-up, and happier sales teams.

In 2021, we raised a $20M Series A backed by Felicis Ventures (investors in Twitch, Shopify, Opendoor, and many others) and Battery Ventures. This year, we’re laser-focused on driving customer growth. If you’re excited about the opportunity to wear multiple hats, and continuously learn and experiment, now’s the time to join the Proton team.

Reporting directly to our CEO, this person will be responsible for all company finances and administrative operations. This role will own our accounting and financial compliance, create financial reporting, and execute operational HR responsibilities. This is a classic startup “many hats” role that offers many opportunities for learning and growth.

This is a hybrid role, based in the greater Boston area (Kendall Square).

Your core responsibilities:

  • Manage mail sorting and check deposits
  • Own variable compensation and partner commission calculations and payment
  • Provide quarterly financial reporting to Proton’s investors
  • Administer all other company financial systems (e.g. bank accounts, credit cards, etc)

Human Resources:

  • Complete basic employee and contractor onboarding and offboarding, including ensuring needed systems access and legal compliance
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, and maintain our company policies and handbook
  • Administer bi-monthly payroll including processing quarterly bonuses and maintaining and updating employee records
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to: compensation, benefits, and employee leave

Your qualities:

  • Functional expertise: You have a solid background in accounting, financial planning, and financial operations
  • Startup experience: You have worked for an early stage startup before, and thrive in entrepreneurial environments
  • Organized and detail-oriented: You are able to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously, and deliver extremely high quality work
  • Adaptable and eager to learn: You are early in your career with high potential, eager to take on responsibilities you’ve never done before, and flexible when needs or responsibilities change
  • Strategic thinking: You’re able to contribute to the big picture of Proton’s financial strategy
  • Communication and interpersonal skills: You’re able to clearly communicate financial concepts to a lay audience, and work with a wide range of stakeholders to implement changes

Benefits

  • Competitive Salaries + Company Stock Options - we want to pay you well (and equitably!) and make you feel like an owner.
  • Unlimited PTO + 10 Company Paid Holidays - we even have tools implemented to detect burnout to make sure folks recharge regularly.
  • 401k with Employer Contribution (US only, for now!) - we know work isn’t forever, so we contribute up to 3% of your salary to help you prepare whether you directly contribute or not.
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance - we cover one medical plan 100% in the USA and cover a premium plan 100% for international employees (for US- this includes a HSA!) and cover 50% for dependents on all our medical plan options.
