Role Overview

Expeirence in oversee the security architecture, governance, and operational assurance of the organisation’s AWS cloud and Akamai CDN/WAF environments. This role requires strategic oversight, technical depth, and cross-functional leadership to ensure secure design, deployment, and monitoring of cloud and web platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Security Leadership (AWS)

Define and enforce the overall cloud security strategy and standards across AWS environments.

Review and approve IAM, encryption, and network security architectures to ensure alignment with enterprise security objectives.

Oversee the implementation of automated security controls and compliance monitoring tools.

Lead security reviews for new cloud initiatives, integrations, and product rollouts.

Coordinate with DevOps, engineering, and infrastructure teams to ensure secure cloud operations.

Govern incident response, vulnerability management, and risk remediation activities related to AWS workloads.

Akamai CDN & WAF Oversigh

Lead the design and governance of Akamai CDN and WAF configurations for web and API protection.

Define policy frameworks for bot mitigation, DDoS resilience, and web threat defense.

Review WAF rulesets and tuning changes for risk impact and operational alignment.

Guide application and performance teams on secure edge configurations and best practices.

Governance, Reporting & Team Leadership

Establish a governance model for cloud and CDN security, including control ownership and accountability.

Build and mentor a team of cloud and application security engineers.

Drive metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting on security posture, incidents, and risk trends.

Collaborate with enterprise architecture, infrastructure, and compliance teams to ensure consistency of controls.

Evaluate emerging cloud security technologies and recommend adoption strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

10–15 years of experience in cybersecurity, with significant exposure to cloud and application security.

Proven leadership experience managing cloud security functions in large-scale or multi-account AWS environments.

Strong understanding of AWS native security services and Akamai CDN/WAF platforms.

Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving DevOps, application, and infrastructure teams.

Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred certifications: AWS Security Specialty, Akamai Security Architect, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
