We are seeking a passionate Quality Technician to join our growing team at Octopus Energy’s heat pump factory in Portadown, Northern Ireland.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our heat pump manufacturing facility. As a Manufacturing Quality Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of products manufactured within our organisation. Your primary responsibilities will include performing various quality control tests, inspections, and audits throughout the production process to identify and address any deviations or defects. You will write production specifications where needed, and will work closely with production teams to uphold quality standards, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to optimise our manufacturing process.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 - 3 years of experience within a manufacturing environment.

What you'll do

  • Develop work instructions, component specifications and inspection plans
  • Monitor and drive supplier quality activities, including the development of a supplier audit program
  • Manage the Octopus Energy calibration, audit, non-conforming material and corrective action programs
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams, leading problem solving investigations and supporting the introduction of New Products (NPI)
  • Drive a continuous improvement ethic into all that you do
  • What you'll need

  • 2 - 3 years of progressive experience in a quality role or 1 year's experience and a relevant degree
  • Ability to be on-site every day at our Portadown heat pump factory
  • Proven track record of implementing quality strategies to optimise operations and reduce costs
  • High degree of integrity and a natural sense of responsibility
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills, including being comfortable working with highly technical information
  • Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Why else you'll love it here

  • Wondering what the salary for this role is? Just ask us! On a call with one of our recruiters it's something we always cover as we genuinely want to match your experience with the correct salary. The reason why we don't advertise is because we honestly have a degree of flexibility and would never want salary to be a reason why someone doesn't apply to Octopus - what's more important to us is finding the right octofit!
  • Octopus Energy is a unique culture. An organisation where people learn, decide, and build quicker. Where people work with autonomy, alongside a wide range of amazing co-owners, on projects that break new ground. We want your hard work to be rewarded with perks you actually care about! We won best company to work for in 2022, on Glassdoor we we're voted 50 best places to work in 2022 and our Group CEO, Greg has recorded a podcast about our culture and how we empower our people
