For all IMO Health positions, if you live in the Greater Chicagoland Area, Houston, TX, or Roseville, CA, you’ll be expected to work from any IMO Health office 2 days per week.

At IMO Health, a core team of AI experts, biomedical scientists, software developers, and data scientists combine computer science and biomedical expertise to help patients and healthcare professionals' access high-quality health information quickly and easily to improve total patient health.

We are seeking a highly skilled

NLP Engineer to develop our innovative and cutting-edge NLP/AI solutions to empower life science. This involves working directly with our clients as well as cross-functional Biomedical Science, Engineering, and Business leaders to identify, prioritize, and develop NLP/AI and Advanced analytics products from inception to delivery.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the research, strategy, design and implementation of NLP/AI products from prototype to deployment
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external clients to understand requirements, and design innovative NLP/AI solutions
  • Develop and validate cutting-edge NLP algorithms, including large language models tailored for healthcare and bio-pharma use cases
  • Translate complex technical insights into accessible language for non-technical stakeholders
  • Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth
  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and conferences
  • Engage with the broader scientific community by attending conferences, workshops, and collaborating on research projects 
  • What you'll need:

  • Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in Biomedical NLP, Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Informatics, Computational Linguistics, Mathematics, or other related fields
  • Strong background in natural language processing, LLM, machine learning, and statistical modeling
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in NLP, such as Python, Java, or R
  • Solid understanding of machine learning techniques and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) is highly desirable
  • Experience working with healthcare data, particularly EHRs and clinical notes, is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of client operations and experience managing client deliveries is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality NLP solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Publication records in leading computer science or biomedical informatics journals and conferences is highly desirable
  • Located in Houston, TX, or Chicago, IL is strongly preferred.
