Overview
Xometry is seeking a Staff Computational Engineer specializing in 3D CAD to join our engineering team. This role focuses on developing advanced CAD models, conducting computational design work, and building tools to streamline design workflows. You will collaborate with R&D to accelerate product development and ensure high-quality, manufacturable designs.
What you'll do
- Develop and optimize 3D CAD models and related geometric representations for complex products
- Build and maintain computational tools and scripts (Python, C++) to automate CAD data processing, simulations, and design optimization
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define performance metrics, conduct simulations (e.g., finite element analysis), and iterate on design choices
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews and best practices in CAD workflow software
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's or Master's (or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Computational Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in computational engineering or related roles with strong 3D CAD proficiency
- Proficient programming skills in Python and C++, with experience building CAD-related tooling
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), simulations, and optimization of geometric designs
- Familiarity with CAD software ecosystems and scripting capabilities (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Rhino, or similar)
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving abilities
