Overview
Xometry is seeking a Senior Manager, ML Engineering to lead and scale our machine learning engineering efforts. In this role, you will lead a team of ML engineers and data scientists to design, build, and deploy production-grade ML systems that power Xometry's manufacturing platform. You will drive strategy, architecture, and best practices for ML, MLOps, and data-driven decision making across the organization. This is a remote-friendly opportunity with collaboration across global teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of ML engineers and data scientists, setting strategy and delivering high-impact ML solutions.
- Architect scalable ML platforms and production-ready ML pipelines, including data ingestion, feature stores, model training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
- Collaborate with product, platform, and software engineering teams to define ML roadmap and align with business objectives.
- Institutionalize MLOps practices (CI/CD for ML, model governance, monitoring, and alerting) to ensure reliable production systems.
- Partner with data engineering to ensure data quality, availability, and governance for ML initiatives.
- Establish and track metrics, KPIs, and budgets; manage resources and stakeholder expectations.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top ML talent and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, ML, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of hands-on ML engineering, ML platform, or data science experience; 3+ years in leadership/management or technical leadership roles.
- Strong proficiency in Python; hands-on experience with PyTorch and TensorFlow.
- Experience building and deploying ML models in production; familiarity with MLOps tooling (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, data pipelines, and data quality concepts.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Nice-to-have
- Experience in manufacturing, HVAC, or supply chain domains.
- Experience with large-scale data platforms, feature stores, and model monitoring tooling.
