Senior Data Scientist, Costing at Xometry

Xometry is seeking a Senior Data Scientist focused on costing to design and maintain data-driven costing and pricing models for parts in our on-demand manufacturing marketplace. This remote role offers the opportunity to collaborate with Finance, Product, and Operations to drive pricing decisions, improve costing accuracy, and scale pricing strategies across the platform. You will analyze historical data, run experiments, build predictive models, and communicate insights through dashboards and reports. You will also mentor junior data scientists and contribute to data governance and best practices around model development and deployment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain costing and pricing models for parts and materials used on the Xometry platform.
• Analyze historical cost data, supplier data, and market trends to improve pricing accuracy and margins.
• Design, implement, and evaluate pricing experiments (A/B tests, quasi-experiments) to validate changes.
• Build and maintain dashboards and reports to communicate costing insights to Finance, Product, and Operations teams.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering to ensure scalable data pipelines and reliable data quality.
• Mentor and coach junior data scientists; contribute to code reviews and best practices.
• Ensure model governance, documentation, and reproducibility.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in statistics, mathematics, computer science, operations research, economics or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data science with focus on pricing, costing, or revenue optimization.
• Strong programming skills in Python (pandas, scikit-learn) and SQL; experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
• Experience building predictive models, cost estimation, and optimization methods; familiarity with experimentation (A/B testing) and causal inference.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) and data pipelines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to translate complex analyses into actionable recommendations.
• Familiarity with manufacturing, supply chain, or marketplace pricing is a plus.
