Principal Software Engineer, Manufacturing Intelligence

Overview

Xometry is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the Manufacturing Intelligence initiatives. In this senior technical leadership role, you will architect scalable software systems, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate with product, data, and operations to build data-driven manufacturing solutions for a global customer base.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and scale distributed software services that power manufacturing intelligence platforms and analytics.
• Define architectural direction, establish best practices, and mentor engineers across teams.
• Collaborate with product, data science, and operations to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Ensure reliability, performance, security, and compliance of systems handling large volumes of manufacturing data.
• Drive continuous improvement through code reviews, testing strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience; proven track record in senior/principal roles.
• Strong experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms (experience with AWS preferred), data pipelines, and analytics.
• Proficiency in one or more of Python, Java, C++, and SQL; familiarity with data processing frameworks is a plus.
• Experience with APIs, microservices, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
