Overview
Xometry is seeking an Applications Engineer for Tube Bending to support customers in designing and manufacturing bent-tube assemblies. This hybrid role combines engineering, sales support, and multidisciplinary collaboration to translate customer requirements into manufacturable tube bending solutions at our Boston-area facility.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers, sales, design, and manufacturing teams to understand tube bending requirements and tolerances.
- Develop and optimize bending processes, tooling concepts, and fixtures to meet quality and cost targets.
- Assess manufacturability of tube assemblies from drawings and CAD models; provide design-for-manufacture guidance.
- Assist with quotes, lead times, and production planning; support procurement of tooling and fixtures.
- Troubleshoot production issues, improve process efficiency, and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Create and maintain process documentation, standard work, and quality records.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and drive on-time delivery.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience with tube bending processes (CNC tube bending, roller or mandrel bending) and tooling design.
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and reading complex fabrication drawings.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing controls, quality systems, and lean practices is a plus.
- Willingness to work in a hybrid environment at the Boston-area location.
