About Xometry

Xometry is hiring an Application Engineer, Injection Molding to join its engineering team in Lexington, KY. This role focuses on helping customers design and manufacture high-quality injection-molded parts by optimizing processes, tooling, and part designs.

Role overview

As an Application Engineer, you will collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure manufacturability, provide technical guidance on materials and tooling, and support part launches from concept through production.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate part designs for manufacturability in injection molding applications and identify opportunities to reduce cost while improving quality.
  • Collaborate with customers, sales, tooling vendors, and production teams to define process parameters and tooling recommendations.
  • Perform engineering analyses (tolerances, shrinkage, warpage) and support part qualification and validation.
  • Review material selections and processing methods to ensure process robustness and repeatability.
  • Support new part launches, change requests, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and provide clear technical communication to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in injection molding or plastics manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, plastic part design guidelines, process optimization, and tooling considerations.
  • Familiarity with process simulation, SPC, and quality methods (APQP, PFMEA) is a plus.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Based in Lexington or willing to commute; travel may be minimal.
