Role Overview
Application Engineer, Injection Molding based in Denver, CO. This hybrid role focuses on applying injection molding processing expertise to help customers design, manufacture, and assemble plastic parts efficiently and with high quality.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers to define injection molding requirements and constraints.
- Develop processing windows (temperature, pressure, cooling times) for selected resins.
- Lead process development from feasibility through production ramp, including pilot runs and scale-up.
- Troubleshoot molding problems (short shots, flash, warpage, sink marks) and implement robust countermeasures.
- Create work instructions, PFMEA, and control plans; support DOE and process optimization initiatives.
- Partner with design engineers for design for manufacturability (DFM/DFx) considerations.
- Provide technical support to sales and Quality teams; communicate clearly with cross-functional stakeholders.
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-7 years of hands-on experience in injection molding process engineering and/or applications.
- Strong knowledge of polymer materials, mold tooling, resins, gate and runner design, and cycle optimization.
- Experience with statistical methods (DOE, SPC) and data analysis; familiarity with Minitab, JMP, or similar tools.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment and manage multiple projects concurrently.
