About Wing:

Wing offers drone delivery as a safe, fast, and sustainable solution for last mile logistics. Consumer appetites for on-demand services are increasing, but current delivery methods are inefficient, costly, and contribute to road accidents and air pollution. Wing’s fleet of highly automated delivery drones can transport small packages directly from businesses to homes on-demand, in minutes. We design, build, and operate our aircraft, and offer drone delivery services on two continents. Our technology is designed to be easy to integrate into existing delivery and logistics networks, offering a scalable drone delivery solution for a broad range of businesses. Wing is a part of Google's parent company, Alphabet, and our mission is to create the preferred means of delivery for the planet. If you're ready to do the greatest work of your life, come join us.

About the Role:

Wing is looking for a Head of U.S. Federal Affairs to join our Government & Aviation Affairs team. This role is hybrid based in Washington, D.C.

This executive-level position will lead Wing’s federal policy and government relations strategy in the United States, reporting to the Director of Global Policy, Government & Community Affairs. This leader will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive federal engagement strategy to advance Wing’s leadership in the drone delivery industry and create a clear regulatory pathway for scalable, autonomous operations. The successful candidate is a proven public policy strategist who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We are looking for an intrinsically driven leader who can navigate complex legislative and regulatory challenges, build and maintain high-level relationships with key federal stakeholders (including the White House, FAA, DOT, DHS, DOC, and Congress), and work cross-functionally to align our public policy goals with our business and operational roadmaps.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and execute Wing’s comprehensive U.S. federal legislative and political strategy to enable Wing's commercial expansion.
  • Serve as Wing’s primary representative to high-level officials in the U.S. Congress, the White House, and additional agencies, building and maintaining key relationships on behalf of Wing.
  • Lead and mentor a team of federal affairs professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and strategic impact.
  • Analyze federal legislation, proposed rules (NPRMs), and executive orders to assess their impact on Wing's operations and long-term strategy.
  • Draft and propose legislative text that promotes Wing’s top priorities.
  • Advocate on Wing’s behalf by working hand in hand with the global policy team to draft and submit public comments, white papers, and testimony for congressional hearings.
  • Collaborate with internal partners, including Policy, Regulatory, Legal, Flight Operations, Product, and Engineering, to ensure Wing’s policy positions reflect our technical capabilities and business objectives.
  • Manage external consultants and relationships with industry trade associations to amplify Wing's policy priorities.
  • Advise Wing’s senior leadership on federal political, legislative, and regulatory developments, risks, and opportunities.

What You’ll Need:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in government affairs, public policy, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience managing high-performing teams.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience scaling a company's government relations function or navigating a novel regulatory landscape for a new technology.
  • A demonstrable network of high-level, bipartisan relationships across the U.S. Congress, the White House, and relevant federal agencies (DOT, DHS, DOC).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical and regulatory concepts for executive and government audiences.
