About the Role
We're looking for a Marketing Developer to join our Growth & Lifecycle Marketing team. This is a highly technical role that sits at the intersection of marketing, development, and data. You'll be the technical anchor for our multi-channel lifecycle marketing programs, building sophisticated automation systems, creating interactive email, in-app and web experiences, and ensuring our marketing technology stack runs smoothly.
As our Marketing Developer, you'll work closely with marketers, designers, and engineers to translate business needs into technical solutions. You'll be the subject matter expert on our marketing automation platform (Braze) and push the boundaries of what's possible in lifecycle marketing.
What You'll Do: Development & Design:Create and maintain our email templates and email design systemBuild interactive email experiences, including dropdowns, carousels, and AMP for emailCode advanced techniques like background images, device targeting, and dark mode supportProvide development guidance and support to the Lifecycle Marketing team for email and in-app message buildsStay current on industry changes and email client support updatesAct as SME on email and in-app message feasibility, scope creative designs, and explain channel nuancesTroubleshoot and resolve complex email, in-app and web template issuesMarketing Automation & Platform Operations:Design and build complex, multi-channel automation journeys in BrazeManage platform administration, including roles, users, and account settingsCreate and maintain custom HTML templates for in-app messagingWrite Liquid for complex personalization and dynamic contentDevelop custom scripts (webhooks, advanced Liquid logic) to extend platform capabilitiesIntegrate external tools and platforms using APIs beyond native supported integrationsTest and support platform-side requirements for integrations (API requirements, custom attributes)Provide solution design and support for non-Lifecycle teams utilizing our marketing toolsData & Personalization:Implement advanced personalization logic, including for loops, connected content, and catalogsWrite SQL queries for complex use cases and data extractionCreate advanced segmentation strategiesBuild custom reports and data visualizationsDesign technical solutions based on our relational database structuresAI & Workflow Automation:Evaluate, implement, and optimize AI tools to enhance marketing efficiency and campaign performanceBuild automated workflows that reduce manual tasks and streamline repetitive processesDevelop AI-assisted solutions for content personalization, audience segmentation, and campaign optimizationCreate scoping tools and templates that help marketers estimate project timelines and resource requirementsDesign self-service tools that empower marketing team members to execute campaigns independentlyIdentify opportunities to leverage AI for predictive analytics, A/B test optimization, and performance forecastingBuild integrations between AI tools and our marketing tech stack to automate data flows and reportingTrain team members on new automation tools and document best practices for AI-powered workflowsOperations:Manage the Lifecycle Marketing JIRA board and assign requests from cross-team partnersTranslate business needs into technical solutionsMaintain deep links code snippets for use in templatesServe as the technical SME for email and lifecycle marketing platforms What You'll Bring: Expert-level email development: Proficient in HTML/CSS for email with deep knowledge of responsive design, email client quirks, and advanced techniquesInteractive email techniques: Experience building dropdowns, carousels, AMP for email, and other interactive elementsMarketing automation expertise: Proven experience building complex, multi-channel automation flows in platforms like Braze, Iterable or Salesforce Marketing CloudAdvanced scripting: Strong skills in Liquid, webhooks, and other marketing automation scripting languagesSQL proficiency: Ability to write complex SQL queries for segmentation and reportingAPI integration: Experience integrating external platforms using APIs beyond standard supported integrationsProblem-solving: Exceptional troubleshooting skills for niche email and platform issuesTechnical architecture: Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutionsAutomation mindset: Strong instinct for identifying manual processes that can be automated and implementing scalable solutions Nice to Have: Experience with Braze, Iterable or Salesforce Marketing CloudExperience with Taxi for Email or other EDS platformBackground in data visualization and custom reportingUnderstanding of relational databases and data architectureExperience managing technical projects and cross-functional stakeholder requestsPassion for staying current on marketing technology innovations and best practicesFamiliarity with AI tools for marketing (generative AI, predictive models, content optimization)Experience building internal tools or documentation systems for marketing teamsKnowledge of no-code/low-code automation platforms (Zapier, Make, etc.) Additional Information Why Wealthsimple?
