About the Role

We are looking for a buyer who is accomplished at curating a compelling and timely product assortment for our e-commerce business that achieves or surpasses sales volume and profit goals. They are expected to implement the vision set by leadership and proactively respond to customer feedback, market trends and sales performance. The buyer is accountable for the success of their business and must leverage their fashion intuition to guide the assortment.

This is a

full-time, exempt position that will report to our office in West Los Angeles.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop a compelling assortment to exceed sales volume and profit goals.
  • Expand the product line to enhance its appeal to the target market.
  • Analyze selling reports and adapt to current trends as needed.
  • Ensure key fashion trends are well represented in the assortment and test emerging trends for sales viability.
  • Shop domestic and international markets to fill gaps, monitor trends, and identify "chase" opportunities.
  • Negotiate prices to meet mark-up goals.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create strong storylines for the website, emails, and ads.
  • Weekly: Analyze velocity, attributes, and year-over-year performance. Manage open-to-buy (OTB), markdowns, and inventory flow.
  • Monthly: Analyze returns and markdowns across all channels and develop strategies to maintain profitability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create evolving strategies for future growth.
  • Post-Season: Conduct in-season and post-season analyses to evaluate and control the business better.
  • Communicate current trends, opportunities, successes, and failures clearly at weekly cross functional meetings.Maintain a relevant merchandising calendar.
  • Oversee the Buying team's sample management and collection of product information for style-outs, meetings, and photo shoots.
  • Oversee product information before Turnover and develop compelling storylines to boost productivity across all channels.
  • Drive and understand the private label process for product development, contributing to continuous improvements in efficiency, execution, brand/product positioning, timing, and quality.
  • Shop competition and inspirational stores.
  • Stay informed on current industry trends, fashion shows, design fairs, art exhibitions, and other influential cultural events by reading relevant trade, trend, and consumer publications.
  • Experience & Skills

  • 5-7 years of experience in merchandising or buying at a retail or e-commerce company.
  • Demonstrated business and strategic acumen.
  • Strong analytical and math skills.Strong Proficiency in Excel, Google Workspace, and other project management programsA keen eye for product trends.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • A positive, can-do attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in both vertical retail and multi vendor buying environments is a plus!
  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset and excel at problem-solving. You are nimble, scrappy and adaptable with a high sense of urgency. Can thrive in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment that requires multi-tasking, including pitching in to support other persons and teams.

  • Compensation & Benefits

  • We estimate the annual salary for this role to be $110,000 - $120,000. This role’s level, job title and corresponding pay rate will be determined by the selected candidate’s professional experiences and related skill sets.
