As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) at Vanta, you’ll sit at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer success. You’ll work directly with customers to understand their needs, extend Vanta’s product and platform to solve real problems, and ensure successful adoption. You’ll support unique customer requirements across integrations, data transformations, and reporting outcomes — combining strong software and systems engineering fundamentals with empathy for customer challenges and the ability to move quickly from concept to solution.
FDEs collaborate heavily with Solution Architects and internal product engineering teams to bridge customer requirements with Vanta’s technical capabilities. You’ll act as a technical partner and drive software delivery, influence product direction through customer insights, and ensure our technology delivers wins and outcomes for our customers.

What you’ll do as a Forward Deployed Engineer at Vanta:
Collaborate directly with customers to understand their technical goals and translate them into actionable solutions.
Design and implement integrations, data transformations, and reporting workflows that extend Vanta’s platform to customer-specific use cases.
Work hands-on across the stack — from APIs and SDKs to infrastructure configuration — to ensure smooth deployment, adoption, and performance.
Partner closely with Solution Architects and product engineering teams to align on technical requirements, influence roadmap priorities, and share field insights.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across integrations, data pipelines, and application layers.
Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers, enabling them to maximize the value and security impact of Vanta’s platform.
Contribute to Vanta’s technical and customer success culture by documenting best practices and mentoring teammates.
How to be successful in this role:
Have 5-10+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in customer-facing or deployment-oriented roles.
Be comfortable coding in one or more modern languages (e.g., TypeScript, Python, Go, or similar) and working with APIs, data systems, and integrations.
Have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly understand unfamiliar systems and adapt Vanta’s products and platform to them.
Enjoy working directly with customers; ranging from technical engineers to security and compliance leaders, and thrive in fast-changing, high-impact environments.
Collaborate effectively with Solution Architects, product engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Have an interest in security, compliance, or SaaS infrastructure; prior experience in these domains is a plus, but not required.
Willingness to travel approximately 10–15% of the time for customer engagements, on-site implementations, or strategic planning sessions.
