Turbomachinery Engineer (Raptor)

📋 Description

• Design, build and test turbopumps for rocket engines and spacecraft.
• Own turbomachinery components and drive design with manufacturing.
• Perform hydrodynamic sizing and flowpath design for impellers and diffusers.
• Ensure mechanical analysis and review drawings for life and reliability.
• Develop first-principles models to predict turbopump performance.
• Interface with production to translate designs into flight hardware.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
• 1+ years of turbomachinery design experience (incl. internships)
• Master’s degree or higher in aerospace, aeronautics or mechanical engineering
• Strong understanding of pump hydrodynamic/aerodynamic design
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, compressible and incompressible flow
• Experience with turbomachinery manufacturing and design for manufacturability
