- Experience building and maintaining complex production database systems
- Read code; scripting in Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript/Node.js, Go
- Holistic view of workloads: performance, availability and scalability
- Ability to analyze issues from app to storage
- Genuine desire to help people
- Calm under pressure and real-time problem solving
- Willingness to rapidly learn new technical skills
