As a
Senior Data Scientist – Transaction Monitoring, you will help Rabobank detect criminal behavior by developing analytical models that uncover suspicious transaction patterns across more than
8 million customers. Your work directly supports the fight against
money laundering and terrorist financing, making a tangible impact on both society and the financial system.You’ll join a multidisciplinary team responsible for optimizing Rabobank’s current
rule-based Transaction Monitoring (TM)system and gradually introducing advanced analytics and
machine learning methodologiesto improve accuracy and efficiency.This position requires strong
statistical, analytical, and programming expertise, combined with a pragmatic approach to deploying and maintaining models in production.
Key Responsibilities - Develop, analyze, and optimize rules in multidisciplinary teams to detect patterns linked to financial crime.
- Identify and integrate new data sources to enhance the TM models, collaborating closely with functional and domain experts.
- Lead or contribute to the design and deployment of robust data science models, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with IT and architecture teams.
- Anticipate technical challenges, propose solutions, and guide the team in implementing best practices.
- Support and mentor medior and junior data scientists to ensure consistent quality and methodology across the team.
- Communicate findings, long-term ideas, and model implications to management and key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications - MSc or PhD inData Science, Econometrics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experiencein advanced analytics, modeling, or AI — ideally with large datasets.
- Proficiency inPython, PySpark, and Spark(experience withAzure Databricksis a strong plus).
- Demonstrated success indeploying analytical models to production.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

- Structured, proactive, and communicative — able to collaborate effectively across business and IT.
- Experience working inAgileor multidisciplinary teams.
