- Qualify, onboard, and deliver firmware across the DigitalOcean ecosystem with vendors and internal teams
- Serve as Tier 3 on-call escalation for firmware issues across the fleet
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation; improve firmware and hardware automation/validation
- Engage with hardware vendors on automation features and bug fixes; develop tooling
- Coordinate with Ops on monitoring, thresholds, and alerting; troubleshoot failures
- Raise quality by adopting industry best practices for cloud infra delivery
🎯 Requirements
- Technical Degree (BS CS/Engineering) or equivalent practical experience
- Strong understanding of x86 server hardware architecture and subsystems
- Experience with non-x86 hardware; configuration management (Ansible, Chef)
- Experience automating server firmware at scale (Redfish, IPMI); benchmarking
- Practical knowledge of PXE boot, UEFI, Linux boot, OpenBMC/AMI/OEM BMC, RAID and storage resiliency, NIC to TCP/IP stack
- Proficient in Git; programming in Python or Go; able to participate in 24/7 on-call
