Staff Engineer, Experimentation Platform

Overview

Stripe is seeking a Staff Engineer for its Experimentation Platform to lead the design and delivery of scalable experimentation tooling used by product and engineering teams to run safe, fast, and measurable experiments at scale.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build components of Stripe's Experimentation Platform (feature flags, experiment definitions, traffic allocation, data collection, measurement, and evaluation).
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Security, and SRE to ensure reliability, privacy, and compliance.
• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of experiments from concept through deployment and analysis; drive roadmap and technical strategy.
• Mentor engineers, participate in code reviews, and promote engineering excellence.
• Improve observability, reliability, and performance; implement instrumentation, dashboards, and alerting.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with distributed systems.
• Proficiency in at least one major language (Go, Python, Java); strong systems design and debugging skills.
• Experience with experimentation platforms, A/B testing, feature flags, telemetry, and data pipelines.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS or related field; excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), Kubernetes, and data stores (PostgreSQL, BigQuery, or similar).
