Commercial Counsel

Overview

Stripe is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel to join its Europe legal team. Based in London, Dublin, or Berlin, you will help shape Stripe's commercial strategy by negotiating and drafting a wide range of contracts and advising on regulatory and privacy matters.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including SaaS, partner, merchant, licensing, and procurement contracts.
• Provide practical legal advice to the sales, product, partnerships, and finance teams; identify and mitigate legal and commercial risk.
• Advise on data privacy and security requirements and ensure compliance with applicable laws (e.g., GDPR) across multiple jurisdictions.
• Support regulatory and compliance initiatives and respond to inquiries from regulators as needed.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams on product launches, pricing, and go-to-market activities.
• Manage external counsel for complex matters as needed.

Requirements

• Qualified attorney with 5+ years of relevant experience in commercial law, preferably in fintech, payments, software, or technology sectors.
• Strong experience negotiating complex technology, data privacy, and cross-border agreements.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively with fast-paced teams.
• Ability to work across multiple jurisdictions; fluent in English; additional European languages a plus.
• Strong business sense and pragmatic problem-solving approach.
