Role Overview

As a Billing Solutions Architect (AI) you will design and implement scalable billing systems and AI-powered features across Stripe's platform. You will partner with product, platform engineering, data science, and security teams to deliver reliable, compliant, and scalable billing experiences for millions of customers.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve billing architecture and APIs.
• Architect AI-enabled billing optimizations, fraud detection, revenue recognition, and pricing models.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and data teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Ensure security, privacy, PCI compliance, and governance across all billing components.
• Mentor engineers, set engineering direction, review designs, and drive best practices.
• Evaluate and integrate third-party payments providers and internal Stripe APIs.
• Maintain documentation, runbooks, and incident response plans.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software architecture with a focus on billing, payments, or financial services.
• Deep experience with API design, microservices, cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML systems and data processing pipelines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence across teams and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with security, compliance, and risk management in payments (PCI DSS).
• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Nice to have: familiarity with Stripe APIs or large-scale payments platforms; experience delivering AI-powered monetization features; experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional programs.
