- Own the DTN and Bundle Protocol for space data transfer from instruments to deep-space links
- Design and implement the full Bundle Protocol stack (custody transfer, fragmentation, delivery)
- Build DTN routing integrated with the payload scheduler for autonomous data moves
- Own the payload network stack from OSI layers 4–7 with monitoring tools
- Collaborate with partner DTN groups and the open-source DTN community
🎯 Requirements
- MS +5 years or PhD +3 years in networking/distributed systems with 8+ years software experience
- Deep experience with network protocol design/implementation; built or modified protocol stacks
- Strong C and/or Rust systems programming, with experience in concurrent/distributed software
- Solid understanding of Linux networking internals and protocol state machines; formal correctness
- Proven ability to analyze/optimize network throughput, latency, and reliability under constraints
