- Own design system development, maintenance, and evolution (components, patterns, tokens, docs).
- Serve as technical authority for translating designs into production UI; partner with Design; ensure quality and performance.
- Balance tradeoffs between consistency, flexibility, velocity, and performance for the engineering org.
- Build and maintain a component library using modern frontend tech; ensure accessible, performant components.
- Establish and enforce best practices for consistency, accessibility, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership to align the design system roadmap.
🎯 Requirements
- 8+ years in frontend engineering, design engineering, or design systems.
- Led a design system from early stages, including architecture, adoption, and maintenance.
- Strong CSS expertise (CSS-in-JS, CSS Modules, Tailwind), tokens, theming.
- Partner with designers; translate Figma into production-ready components.
- WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility knowledge; build accessible UI.
- Experience supporting shared systems across teams; balance consistency with flexibility.
