Staff Software Engineer

📋 Description

• Build and evolve Nova's core query engine infrastructure.
• Work on query planning, storage formats, encoding, and caching.
• Improve throughput, latency, and reliability at scale.
• Mentor engineers and influence architectural direction.
• Collaborate with Product and Data teams to deliver customer value.
• Support AI agents powering Amplitude's product experiences.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years backend/infrastructure engineering in distributed data systems.
• Hands-on OLAP/analytic system experience (query engines, columnar storage).
• Cloud cost optimization at scale (compute, storage, network).
• Strong CS fundamentals: distributed systems, data structures, concurrency.
• Production experience with AWS, Kafka, Redis/ElastiCache, Kubernetes, Terraform.
• Proficiency in Java, C++, or Python.
