Staff Optical Engineer

📋 Description

• Own the optical subsystems delivery as primary technical lead.
• Manage optical budgets and metrics (MTF, WFE, stray light, throughput).
• Collaborate on cross-functional budgets (thermal, line-of-sight jitter) for margins.
• Define AI&T strategy for optical assembly, integration, and test.
• Support vibration, TVAC, and thermal stress tests.
• Improve testing methods, tools, and practices for reliability.

🎯 Requirements

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years imaging systems and infrared remote sensing experience.
• Expertise in optical design/analysis (Zemax, Code V, FRED) including STOP budgets.
• Hands-on optical metrology, AI&T, root cause analysis, and test data reporting.
• Python and/or C++ for data analysis and automation.
• Strong technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration; security clearance strongly preferred.
