📋 Description

• Performance and internals — diagnose/resolve issues from the query to storage engine.
• Reliability and operations — own backup, replication, and high availability.
• Scaling the data layer — work on sharding and partitioning for growth.
• Set standards for running Postgres and align with application engineers.
• Collaborate with app engineers to connect database behavior to access patterns.
• Core technologies: Go • PostgreSQL • CockroachDB • Redis • Kubernetes • AWS.

🎯 Requirements

• Deep PostgreSQL expertise — MVCC, vacuum/bloat, planner, indexing, replication.
• Production ownership at scale — run Postgres under high traffic with large datasets and high write throughput.
• Self-managed databases — operated Postgres on Kubernetes, bare-metal, or VMs with backups/HA.
• Sharding and scaling — shard real Postgres workloads, not just partitioning.
• An engineering mindset — read/write code; connect DB behavior to app access patterns.
• Judgement alongside AI tooling — use AI well and know when it's wrong.
