Staff Backend Engineer (Platform) (Ruby/Node) - Hospitality & Travel - New York

📋 Description

• Lead backend architecture to be the single source of truth for pricing, inventory, and marketplace logic.
• Drive API redesign and rewrite of Marketplace Core for scalability and reliability.
• Design and implement integrations with external vendors for Hotels platform and partnerships.
• Consolidate pricing and inventory logic into a unified backend domain to reduce risk.
• Define and enforce API contracts and service boundaries for multi-team shipping.
• Mentor engineers and elevate standards to improve reliability and developer experience.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong backend experience with Ruby on Rails and/or Node.js
• Staff or senior technical leadership experience
• API design for complex domains and integrations
• PostgreSQL and MongoDB (relational and NoSQL)
• AWS deployment and operations
• Containerized services with AWS ECS
• Production systems with strong ownership and reliability
• Datadog observability and monitoring expertise
