📋 Description

• Serve as lead product lawyer for payroll and job applicant features
• Advise cross-functional teams on legal/regulatory issues from design to launch
• Manage regulatory risk across employment, payroll taxes, privacy, and finance
• Collaborate with product, engineering, compliance, and senior lawyers to scale offerings
• Support regulatory examinations, audits, and inquiries; explain controls to regulators
• Location in Mountain View, CA HQ at least two days per week

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of legal experience advising payroll services, workforce platforms, or fintechs
• Juris Doctor and active U.S. law license
• Deep knowledge of employment and wage-and-hour laws, including FLSA and state equivalents
• Strong understanding of payroll tax withholding and reporting obligations
• Ability to provide clear, practical advice to non-lawyers in fast-paced settings
• Proficiency with AI tools (including generative AI) or willingness to learn
