Spotify is looking for an exceptional Senior Manager to lead its Music Label Deal Analysis team within FP&A. Your primary focus will be on leading and driving forward the quantitative rigor behind the licensing deals we negotiate with our global music label partners. You will partner closely with Licensing, Legal, Finance, and cross-functional business partners to evaluate commercial terms, build robust financial models, and guide data-driven decision making for negotiations that shape Spotify’s long-term economics with the recorded music industry.

This is a high-visibility, high-impact role at the intersection of music, strategy, and finance. The ideal candidate blends advanced analytical acumen with strong business judgment and exceptional communication skills. You will start with 2 direct reports and be based out of NYC, reporting to the Head of Strategic Planning & Licensing Finance.

What You'll Do

  • Partner closely with the Licensing and Legal teams to analyze, structure, and support negotiations for label deals across major, indie, and regional partners.
  • Own the quantitative workstream for deal evaluation, including financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, and scenario planning.
  • Translate complex deal structures into clear economic implications for senior leadership, providing data-driven recommendations that balance strategic and financial considerations.
  • Develop frameworks for assessing deal performance, critical metrics, and long-term cost implications within Spotify’s music business model.
  • Work cross-functionally with Finance, Engineering, Music Product, and Data teams to ensure alignment on assumptions, methodology, and business impact.
  • Support ongoing deal operations by modeling amendments, extensions, and new rights categories as music industry dynamics evolve.
  • Contribute to internal processes and tooling improvements, helping streamline how Spotify evaluates and manages music licensing economics.
  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics that influence commercial deal structures.
  • Who You Are

  • 7+ years of professional working experience, preferably in or Music Deal Analysis at a technology company, Investment Banking, or Commercial Finance/FP&A at a technology company
  • Deep experience building complex financial models and performing scenario analysis with limited direction. Competence with SQL and experience performing analysis on large datasets
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with legal, business affairs, or deal-making teams and translate commercial terms into financial outcomes.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to fluidly transition from leading and managing work to being able to individually contribute (“hands on keyboard” skills) as situations and timelines require.
  • Sharp attention to detail but an eye towards using the 80/20 rule to address problems, including the ability to communicate and empathize across a wide range of audiences, spanning on-the-ground to executive partners.
  • Very strong project management, planning and interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver work under tight timelines.
  • Deep intellectual curiosity with a desire to constantly understand. One extra question will lead to one extra learning, but hundreds of new ideas when combined with every learning before it.
  • Where You'll Be

  • This role is based in our New York, NY offices.
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home. We ask that you come into the office 3 times per week.
