We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Royalties & Revenue team within the Finance Data & Insights organization. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys combining strong SQL and data skills with a deep curiosity for how financial data drives business decisions.

You’ll help ensure that our Finance and Accounting teams have accurate, reliable data to answer key questions about our subscription revenues, music royalties, and audiobook royalties. You’ll also gather data for legal and audit purposes, ensuring precision and confidentiality.

This role also includes opportunities to use AI and other automation tools to enhance efficiency within Finance.

What You'll Do

  • Work with a cross-functional team of data scientists, engineers, and functional stakeholders to develop and enhance systems and data that support Finance and/or Accounting.
  • Assist with legal and audit data pulls, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and appropriate documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide clear, accurate, and timely outputs.
  • Gain and deploy a deep understanding of the Spotify data ecosystem to complete operational tasks and analyses related to royalty payments and subscription revenues with accuracy and timeliness
  • Work with large data sets, solving complex problems in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Drive process efficiencies through automation and delivery of data pipelines to enable self-service reporting and analytics, using AI where possible
  • Work in an environment with a group of highly motivated individuals who are passionate about Spotify’s success
  • Who You Are

  • 2+ years of experience in data analytics, ideally with experience in financial data analysis. Experience in a tech-forward environment is a plus.
  • A passion for solving complex problems through data analysis combined with a strong business acumen.
  • Experience performing analysis over large and complex data sets
  • Fluent in SQL and have hands-on experience with BigQuery and Google Sheets. You also have experience with visualization tools (e.g, Tableau, Looker Studio)
  • Have the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical teams to understand problems and articulate proposed solutions
  • Can formulate meaningful conclusions from your analysis or investigations that inform business decisions while highlighting limitations and assumptions
  • Experience performing testing and validation of datasets and outputs created by other teams or members of your team
  • Background with both finance and technical experience, with a degree in finance, accounting, information systems, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or another quantitative discipline
  • Experience with AI, Python, R, or other programming languages is a strong plus.
  • Where You'll Be

  • This role is based in New York, NY
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home. We ask that you come into the office 2-3 days per week.
  • Working hours? We operate within the EST zone for collaboration.
