As an In-Line Process Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our spacecraft and subsystems. This involves inspecting, verifying, and documenting incoming materials, manufacturing activities, and assembly processes to confirm compliance with aerospace standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures.

The In-Line Process Technician

shall maintain a collaborative but objective relationship with other disciplines and management, acting as the quality safeguard without compromising production workflow, whilst also promoting a culture of reliability and accountability that is critical to mission success.

To be successful as an

In-Line Process Technician, the ideal candidate should have keen attention to detail, integrity, and accountability to ensure high quality standards are upheld. Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills are essential for collaborating across disciplines in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

What you’ll do as an In-Line Process Technician:

  • Perform incoming, in-process and final inspections of production parts and components, subassemblies, and integrated systems to verify compliance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and aerospace workmanship standards (NASA, ECSS, IPC etc.).

  • Document inspection results, sign-off on production workflow stages, and maintain traceable records of flight hardware.

  • Confirm that technicians and engineers are adhering to the prescribed manufacturing or assembly procedures and not deviating without approved changes.

  • Witness or verify environmental testing steps (vibration, thermal/TVAC, EMC etc.) to ensure correct setup and execution.

  • Monitor assembly areas for compliance with cleanroom, ESD, and FOD control requirements.

  • Identify and escalate non-conformances, support root cause investigations, assist in implementing corrective actions, and where appropriate, providing feedback to suppliers.

  • Maintain tools and measurement equipment (drivers, callipers, torque wrenches/drivers, microscopes, solder stations, etc.) to ensure that they remain in proper working condition.

  • Track and coordinate calibration schedules for inspection and test equipment in accordance with company policies and aerospace quality standards (e.g., ISO9001/AS9100).

  • Support periodic audits and customer reviews by providing accurate inspection records and calibration logs.

  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key skills:

  • Five years minimum experience in aerospace, defence, or high-reliability electronics manufacturing/inspection.

  • Proficiency with production tools and (drivers, callipers, torque wrenches/drivers, microscopes, solder stations, etc.).

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical work instructions.

  • Knowledge and understanding of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 workmanship standards.

  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols, ESD/FOD prevention, and aerospace documentation practices.

  • Familiarity with ISO/AS9100 quality systems or other aerospace industry quality standards.

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and ability to follow established procedures.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills for cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Preferred skills:

  • Certification in IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001.

  • Working experience with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality systems or other aerospace industry quality standards.

  • Experience maintaining and coordinating calibration schedules for inspection and test equipment.

  • Background in CubeSat, small satellite, or space hardware manufacturing/inspection.

  • Associate degree or higher in electronics, aerospace technology, or a related field.

Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in the office.

Access to US export-controlled software and/or technology may be

required
