Tech Lead, Web Core Product & Chrome Extension - Zagreb, Croatia

Overview

Speechify is hiring a Senior Tech Lead to drive the development of our Web Core Product and Chrome Extension. This on-site role based in Zagreb, Croatia, will shape technical direction, mentor engineers, and ship high-quality features to millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural decisions for the web core product and the Chrome extension.
• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to scope and deliver features.
• Establish coding standards, conduct code reviews, ensure performance, accessibility, and security.
• Mentor and grow engineers, help define the team's technical roadmap, and foster a culture of excellence.
• Own end-to-end delivery of projects from planning through testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Manage technical debt and contribute to long-term product strategy.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of frontend experience; 3+ years in a leadership/tech-lead role.
• Strong proficiency with JavaScript and TypeScript; deep knowledge of React.
• Experience building and maintaining Chrome extensions.
• Familiarity with modern frontend tooling (Webpack, Babel, ESLint) and REST/GraphQL APIs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; proven ability to mentor others.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
