Speechify is a leading text-to-speech platform that helps people consume written content more efficiently. We’re looking for a hands-on Tech Lead to shape our Web Core Product and Chrome Extension from Surabaya, Indonesia.

Role Overview

The Tech Lead will own the technical direction of Speechify’s web stack and Chrome extension, lead a small team of frontend engineers, and collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver a fast, accessible, and scalable experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and technical roadmap for the web core product and Chrome extension
• Mentor and grow a high-performing frontend team
• Set coding standards, perform code reviews, and ensure code quality and maintainability
• Drive performance, accessibility, and reliability improvements
• Collaborate with product and design to translate requirements into robust UI and UX
• Coordinate with backend teams and APIs to deliver seamless experiences
• Champion testing, CI/CD, and release processes

Requirements

• 5+ years of frontend engineering experience
• Strong proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience with React or similar modern frontend frameworks
• Experience building Chrome Extensions
• Proven leadership or mentorship experience
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience

Nice to Have

• Experience with web performance optimization and accessibility (A11y)
• Backend/API integration experience
• Familiarity with modern tooling (Webpack/Vite, testing frameworks, CI/CD)
