Tech Lead, Web Core Product & Chrome Extension – San Francisco, USA
Based in San Francisco, you will lead the frontend development for Speechify's Web Core Product and Chrome Extension, shaping architecture, performance, and user experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead frontend development for the Web Core Product and Chrome Extension, driving architecture, performance, and UX improvements.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver high-quality web experiences.
- Define and drive the technical roadmap, set coding standards, and ensure code quality through reviews and best practices.
- Mentor and coach engineers, promoting a culture of craftsmanship and learning.
- Champion accessibility, performance, security, and maintainability across the frontend stack.
- Stay current with web technologies and Chrome Extension APIs to deliver innovative features.
Requirements
- 5+ years of frontend development experience (enterprise-grade web apps preferred).
- Strong proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and modern frontend tooling.
- Experience building Chrome Extensions or other browser-based applications.
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to guide teams and influence roadmaps.
- Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Nice to have
- Experience with WebExtensions API, Webpack/Vite, CI/CD pipelines, and testing strategies.
- Familiarity with Speechify products or text-to-speech technologies.
