Tech Lead, Web Core Product & Chrome Extension - Speechify (Munich, Germany)

Speechify is seeking a hands-on Tech Lead to guide our Web Core Product and Chrome Extension from Munich, Germany. This on-site leadership role will shape the technical direction of our web platform, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to deliver high-quality, performant user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical roadmap and architecture for the Web Core Product and Chrome Extension.
• Mentor and grow a team of frontend engineers; promote code quality and best practices.
• Design and implement scalable frontend features using modern web technologies.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, and backend teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Champion performance, accessibility, security, and reliability across web platforms.
• Own technical debt and drive continuous improvement, CI/CD, testing strategies, and release planning.
• Work closely with localization and internationalization efforts to support a global user base.

Requirements

• 5+ years of frontend engineering experience with demonstrated leadership/mentoring capabilities.
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills and experience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, or similar).
• Experience building and shipping Chrome extensions and web platform features.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Nice-to-have

• Experience with performance optimization, accessibility (WCAG), and security best practices.
• Experience in product-focused development and internationalization projects.
