Role overview

Speechify is seeking a hands-on Tech Lead to guide the development of our Web Core Product and Chrome Extension from Ljubljana, Slovenia. You will shape the technical direction, mentor engineers, and deliver high-performance web experiences used by thousands of users.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical direction for the Web Core Product and Chrome Extension, including architecture decisions, code quality, and performance optimizations.
• Mentor and grow a small frontend team; review code and help ship reliable features.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and QA to translate user needs into scalable solutions.
• Champion accessibility, testing, CI/CD, and maintainable UI development.
• Contribute to planning, estimation, and roadmap discussions with stakeholders.

Requirements

• Strong frontend background with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web frameworks.
• Experience building Chrome Extensions or browser-based tooling.
• Proven track record leading frontend projects and delivering customer-focused features.
• Deep understanding of web performance, security, and maintainable code.
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills.
