About Speechify

Speechify is a fast-growing technology company focused on delivering accessible reading experiences. We are seeking a hands-on Tech Lead to guide the frontend efforts for our web core product and Chrome extension, based in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Role Overview

As Tech Lead, Web Core Product & Chrome Extension, you will shape the architecture and lead the development of Speechify’s web core product and its Chrome extension. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product and design, and drive delivery of high-quality, scalable frontend features.

Responsibilities

• Define technical strategy and oversee implementation of the web core product and Chrome extension.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of frontend engineers.
• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to deliver performant, accessible user interfaces.
• Establish coding standards, perform code reviews, and ensure code quality and maintainability.
• Ensure performance, security, and accessibility best practices are applied across the frontend stack.
• Plan roadmaps, estimate efforts, and drive timely delivery of features.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of frontend engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with React or similar frontend frameworks.
• Hands-on experience building Chrome extensions.
• Solid understanding of web performance, accessibility, and security concepts.
• Proven leadership and mentoring abilities, with excellent communication skills.
