Job Overview

Speechify is seeking a Tech Lead for Web Core Product & Chrome Extension based in Hanover, Germany. You will guide the technical direction of our web platform and Chrome extension, lead a team of engineers, and help shape a delightful reading and listening experience for millions of users.

What youll do

• Own the technical roadmap and architecture for the web core product and Chrome extension
• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing frontend team; establish best practices, code reviews, and scalable processes
• Build and maintain scalable frontend features using JavaScript/TypeScript, modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React), and Chrome extension APIs
• Focus on performance, reliability, accessibility, security, and quality of deliverables
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to translate user needs into robust solutions
• Contribute to hiring and team growth, and help shape the technical culture

What we're looking for

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend development
• Experience building Chrome extensions and web platform features
• Proven track record leading engineering teams or major projects
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Nice to have

• Experience with accessibility and performance optimization at scale
• Knowledge of backend integration and API design
