Tech Lead, Web Core Product & Chrome Extension

Speechify is hiring a Tech Lead to own the Web Core Product and Chrome Extension. This role is based in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and will shape the technical direction of Speechify's web platform and Chrome extension.

Role

As Tech Lead, you will drive architectural decisions, lead a cross-functional web team, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product and design to deliver a high-quality Chrome extension and web experience.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical roadmap for the web core product and Chrome extension
• Lead design reviews, code reviews, and ensure code quality, performance, and maintainability
• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to translate requirements into robust features
• Champion performance, accessibility, security, and reliability
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to hiring, onboarding, and career development
• Contribute to testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes
• Write clear documentation and promote engineering best practices

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional web development experience
• 2+ years of leadership or senior-level experience guiding a team
• Strong expertise with React and TypeScript
• Proven experience building Chrome extensions and modern web apps
• Solid knowledge of web APIs, performance optimization, and accessibility
• Experience with Node.js, REST/GraphQL, and modern tooling
• Proficiency with version control (Git), testing, and CI/CD
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent)
