Software Engineer, Platform - Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

About the role

Speechify is seeking a Software Engineer, Platform to join our team in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. In this role you will design, build, and maintain core platform services that power Speechify’s products. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure systems that support millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain platform services and APIs that power Speechify experiences
• Build reliable backend systems with a focus on scalability and performance
• Collaborate with product, design, and other engineering teams to ship features end-to-end
• Improve observability, monitoring, and incident response
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architectural decisions
• On-call rotation and incident management as needed

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 3+ years of software engineering experience with backend systems
• Proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Python, Go, Node.js, Java)
• Experience with distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL)
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• English fluency
