The Role

As a Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure & Acquisition, you will design, build, and maintain data pipelines and data acquisition systems that power Speechify’s analytics, features, and decision-making. This role is based in Oulu, Finland and collaborates with data scientists, product teams, and engineers to ensure data quality, reliability, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust data ingestion pipelines and data acquisition processes.
• Collaborate with data science and product teams to understand data needs and translate them into scalable solutions.
• Ensure data quality, governance, monitoring, and reliability across data platforms.
• Improve data processing performance and cost efficiency.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering or backend software development.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows.
• Familiarity with data warehouses and cloud platforms.
• Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Apache Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools.
• Knowledge of streaming data (Kafka, Kinesis) and real-time processing.
• Familiarity with data privacy and compliance practices.
