For over 20 years, Smartsheet has helped people and teams achieve–well, anything. From seamless work management to smart, scalable solutions, we’ve always worked with flow. We’re building tools that empower teams to automate the manual, uncover insights, and scale smarter. But more than that, we’re creating space– space to think big, take action, and unlock the kind of work that truly matters. Because when challenge meets purpose, and passion turns into progress, that’s magic at work, and it’s what we show up for everyday.

Smartsheet is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Analyst with a proactive mindset for automation and process improvement to join our high-growth SaaS organization. This is an exciting opportunity to become the first payroll team member on the ground in India, supporting our expanding international footprint and partnering closely with teams processing payrolls across EMEA and APAC.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for end-to-end payroll operations across multiple regions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and an exceptional employee experience, while driving efficiency and scalable solutions through process enhancement and automation.

You will report to the Manager, International Payroll, and will have opportunities to collaborate across global teams.

You Will

  • Act as the first payroll team member in India, supporting Smartsheet’s international growth and working closely with regional partners processing payrolls across the EMEA and APAC regions
  • Process, reconcile, and validate payroll for 350+ EMEA employees and/or 200+ APAC employees, including off-cycle runs and ad-hoc payments
  • Partner with third-party vendors (e.g., OSV, CloudPay, Vistra, ADP) to ensure timely and accurate payroll execution
  • Manage regional payroll tax compliance, including registration, maintenance, and reconciliation for all jurisdictions
  • Lead year-end payroll processes and support external audits (e.g. releasing P60s for UK and providing data for workers' compensation for Australia) by preparing and reviewing documentation
  • Champion improvements to payroll systems, configurations, and reporting, leading Workday projects from requirements through implementation
  • Analyze payroll discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions while staying current with regulatory and best practice updates
  • Serve as the primary contact for regional payroll inquiries, collaborating with AP, Tax, People Ops, Benefits, Compensation, and Accounting teams to ensure smooth operations
  • Support global payroll initiatives including country expansion, compliance research, and cross-training within the broader payroll function
  • Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and data integrity
  • Perform other duties as assigned

You Have

  • 5+ years of experience processing EMEA and/or APAC payrolls and supporting international payroll operations
  • Strong working knowledge of regional payroll and tax regulations
  • Hands-on experience with Workday and CloudPay (Experience with Workday testing preferred)
  • Familiarity with related tools such as OSV Atmosphere, OSV Support, or regional pension dashboards
  • Understanding of stock-based compensation (ESPP, RSUs, ISOs, NQs) and their associated tax impacts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with high attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive independently in a fast-paced, global environment and manage competing priorities effectively
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with proven experience driving automation and scalability in payroll processes
  • Legally eligible to work in India on an ongoing basis
  • Fluency in English is required
