ABOUT SLATEAt Slate, we’ve got one job: building a vehicle you’ll fall in love with, right here in the USA. We believe that car buyers—not car companies—should call the shots. We like looking at a road, not a screen. We don’t like paying for stuff we don’t need.
We like picking out the stuff we do need. We think dings are badges, not blemishes. But we know not everyone likes what we like. So, we built you a Slate: you make it yours

| WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Slate is looking for an energetic, organized, and experienced Design and Release Engineer (DRE) – Interior Trim to join our growing team. The DRE will be responsible for design and development of interior Trim sub-systems, components, and related structures across the organization.

| WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Be an integral part of an energetic team that’s challenging the status quo of vehicle design.
  • Develop and implement functional objectives to meet project performance targets including Regulations, NVH, Durability, Craftsmanship, and Comfort.
  • Manage all aspects of interior component development from concept to launch to meet project requirements including performance, cost, mass, timing, manufacturability, etc.
  • Lead APQP requirements completion such as BOM, DFMEA and DVP while supporting PFMEA, Control Plan, and Production assembly process drawings.
  • Support supplier PPAP achievement.
  • Manage change control with accurate and on-time releases.
  • Lead collaboration between internal/external teams and suppliers to meet all project requirements as part of vehicle integration.

| WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited university or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of vehicle design and release experience in the areas of interior flooring systems from concept to launch.
  • Hands on experience in DFA and DFM evaluations for Soft Trim, Metal, Plastic, Gap and Flush, GD&T, and assembly processes.
  • Basic experiential knowledge of NHSTA/FMVSS requirements.
  • Proven communication and team building skills.
  • Ability and Desire work in a fun and fast-paced environment
