Senior Software Engineer, Identity Intelligence

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Identity Intelligence team, delivering innovative solutions that give fraud and risk teams multidimensional insights into user identities. Leveraging advanced data engineering and Sift’s Global Data Network, the team helps detect and prevent fraud with unmatched accuracy and efficiency. Identity Intelligence transforms complex global risk data into actionable profiles, accelerating confident decision-making and optimizing manual reviews for leading brands worldwide. Our R&D team has 100+ engineers, including 40+ in Ukraine.

Tech stack: Java, Apache Flink, GCP (Dataflow, Spanner, BigTable, BigQuery), Kafka, DropWizard, gRPC, Snowflake

What we’re looking for:

• 6+ years of experience building distributed backend systems with Java.

• 3+ years designing and delivering highly available services.

• Proven experience designing and maintaining scalable public APIs.

• Deep expertise with large-scale NoSQL databases (HBase, Cassandra, Bigtable, etc.).

• Strong understanding of data structures, distributed algorithms, and asynchronous architectures.

• Hands-on experience setting up, managing, and deploying cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).

• Background in building data-intensive applications with modern data warehouse technologies (e.g., Snowflake).

Over the next 4 months, you will:

• Contribute to Identity Intelligence, enhancing trust and safety in digital business by building reliable backend services.

• Design, build, and maintain distributed systems in Java, including scalable APIs and integrations with large-scale NoSQL databases.

• Operate with a high level of autonomy, minimal involvement in company processes and meetings, and a flexible schedule.

• Collaborate occasionally with Sift engineers to ensure code quality and maintainability, while focusing on impactful deliverables.

• Deliver production-ready solutions to detect fraud and malicious behavior, with the possibility of extending the contract into next year.

• 45 min Intro with Recruiter.

• 60 min Technical assessment (coding + architecture design).

• 45 min Project deep dive.

• 30 min Behavioral interview with the Engineering Manager.
