Director of Software Engineering

Overview

Shakepay is hiring a Director of Software Engineering to lead and scale our software organization in a remote-first environment. In this role you will own technical strategy, architecture, and delivery, and lead a high-performing engineering team across multiple squads. You will collaborate with Product, Design, Security, and Compliance to build secure, reliable fintech software that powers everyday crypto activity for our customers. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on people development, architectural excellence, and long-term platform strategy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor engineers across multiple squads
• Define and drive technical strategy, architecture, and coding standards
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and security of Shakepay’s software stack
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Security, and Compliance to deliver high-impact features
• Recruit, onboard, and grow engineering talent; manage performance and growth
• Oversee DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, testing, and release engineering
• Manage budgets and roadmaps aligned to business goals

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience; 5+ years in leadership
• Strong backend experience with Go and Python; familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS)
• Experience designing scalable architectures and microservices
• Proven ability to manage and grow engineering teams; excellent communication
• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field
