Senior Software Engineer, Windows/Desktop Applications - Oxford, United Kingdom

📋 Description

• Lead design and development of native Windows desktop apps (WinUI, C#, XAML, C++ as needed).
• Define and enforce Windows desktop best practices: architecture, perf, memory, responsive UI.
• Drive accessibility: UI Automation, focus, keyboard nav, screen readers.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA to plan features and roadmap.
• Own full lifecycle of features from conception to release and maintenance.
• Identify and fix complex bugs, perf bottlenecks, and memory leaks.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years Windows desktop dev with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML; plus C++.
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture and interop between managed and native.
• Proven track record shipping production desktop apps with reliability and performance.
• Strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs, e.g., UI Automation.
• Strong fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, memory management, multithreading.
• Experience leading design, mentoring, code reviews, and architecture decisions.
• Strong communication skills; able to articulate tradeoffs and drive consensus.
• User-centric mindset focused on polished, accessible end-user experiences.
