- Own optomechanical design including concept development, trade studies, and sizing from component to system.
- Perform subsystem and system-level analyses such as STOP, tolerance stackups, and alignment planning.
- Support DFM/DFA efforts to drive continuous improvement and volume production.
- Plan and implement optical instrument assembly, integration, and test (AI&T) with cross-functional teams.
- Oversee subsystem and instrument-level testing including vibration and TVAC and system characterization and V&V.
- Contribute to best practices and tools to improve instrument development efficiency.
π― Requirements
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing optomechanical hardware.
- Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred) for component and assembly design.
- Experience with STOP analysis tools (FEA, Sigfit, Zemax) and workflows.
- Experience with precision optical and mechanical metrology equipment.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organization skills.
