Senior Managing Associate General Counsel, Real Estate Development

📋 Description

• Lead legal support for self-development data center projects in North America
• Drive dirt-to-data-center development including land, permits, financing
• Advise on CRE transactions and development/construction agreements
• Manage regulatory risk, zoning and entitlement matters
• Build relationships with developers, architects, contractors, and government entities
• Partner with cross-functional teams across Development, Construction, Power, Finance, Ops, and Government Affairs
• Translate legal issues into practical guidance for leadership
• Develop scalable legal processes to support growth

🎯 Requirements

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school with active U.S. license
• 12+ years in commercial real estate development, construction, JV structuring, financing
• Significant experience leading large-scale ground-up development from land acquisition to delivery
• Draft, review, and negotiate P&S, development, construction, and design agreements
• Experience partnering with architects, engineers, general contractors, developers, and government entities
• Experience managing site due diligence, permitting, and regulatory compliance
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving legal, development, construction, and operations
• Strong judgment and communication, able to operate in a fast-paced environment
• Executive presence and ability to advise senior leadership on infrastructure/regulatory matters
• Proven ability to manage outside counsel and external consultants while balancing risk
• Preferred: data center/digital infra or large-scale energy project experience
• Preferred: in-house experience at a technology, infrastructure, or hyperscale org
• Preferred: policy/government affairs initiatives related to infrastructure expansion
• Preferred: scalable legal/operational processes for fast-growing orgs
