Safety Research Internship (Spring/Summer 2026)

📋 Description

• Conduct ML research, train and evaluate production LLMs.
• Collaborate on safety, fairness, robustness and interpretability topics.
• Publish results via papers, datasets, and code.
• Contribute to research with practical impact on Cohere products.

🎯 Requirements

• Pursuing PhD in ML/NLP/AI or related; exceptional non-PhD candidates considered.
• Eligible for work authorization in country of employment during hire.
• Experience with distributed training, data annotation/evaluation pipelines, or state-of-the-art ML models.
• Familiar with autoregressive sequence models, such as Transformers.
• Proficiency in Python, C, C++, Lua; familiarity with JAX, PyTorch, TensorFlow.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills; passion for applied NLP.
